Guitarist from Sydney's 90’s alt-rock outfit ‘Real Life Exit’, returns to form with a rock-belter. This could be one of the top 5 rock songs you hear this year.
The music video alone for this single has had 156,000 streams now on Facebook.
Inspired by the ultimate 90’s ‘break-up’ song ‘You Oughta Know’ by from Alanis Morisette – Paul has delivered a modern version with the same sentiment. He combines this effortlessly with a driving rhythm and rock- riff that you would expect from a Midnight Oil song.
Originally released in Aug 2019, this new 2020 extended mix, has been rebuilt from the ground up, and includes a drum solo which is guaranteed to please the lovers of Ringo Starr’s signature sound.
This special extended mix, was the result of a one-off jam on the first drum take of this recording. The producer Steve Robin goes into full flight on a breath-taking drum solo and lifts the song into another dimension.
The cynic man inside of me
Said “Why did this begin”?
And if I have to lose it all
Was nothing like I planned
You cannot watch a movie twice
Life’s linear one way
You cannot deviate fixed path
My fault lines brought you shame
And the road will fall amongst
The everyday we planned
So cut and dry you are
You moved on in one day
I said you moved
But don't you place me
Don't you place me
Don't you place me in
The past with your other boys
On the shelf of discarded toys
With no reason for embellishment
Well we diminish what the journey meant
Then you banned me from the dojo
And I can't go back again
And I've never seen a dojo
Come unrattled by one man
You sunk my pride in borrowed loans
My voice without consent
You turned the dial of freedom up
Some months before I left
And the road will fall amongst
The everyday we planned
So cut and dry you are
I said you moved on in one day
So glad you moved
But don't you place me
Don't you place me
Don't you place me in
The past with your other boys
On the shelf of discarded toys
With no reason for embellishment
Well we diminish what the journey meant
Well we diminish what the journey meant
Thank God that my friends were there
Thank God that my friends were there
Thank God that my friends were there
Thank God that my friends were there
So glad you moved
Don't you place me
Don't you place me
Don't you place me in
The past with your other boys
On the shelf of discarded toys
With no reason for embellishment
Well we diminish what the journey meant
Well we diminish what the journey meant
